April 22, 2023 - BOONE & SCENIC VALLEY RAILROAD - BOONE, IOWA

We are starting the 2023 ride season on the B&SVRR. Early set on Friday evening will be between 5 and 7pm with a possible night run about 7pm for those interested. We hope to have four trips during the day on Saturday and a night run following the return of the dinner train. Enjoy the 156' high bridge and the Des Moines River bridge by the Y-Camp. Round trip mileage is about 20 miles for each run. Saturday set on at the depot will start at 6:30am with an 8:30am departure following a safety meeting at 8:15am for the first run. We'll make two runs in the morning with restroom breaks in between and two runs in the afternoon before the dinner train pulls into the station to board passengers at 5pm. A night run will follow the return of the dinner train. There won't be time for a lunch break in order to get all of our miles in so bring along any food you might wish to eat during the day.

Preregistration cost of this excursion is $30 ( $40 day of ride or after April 16 ). Please make checks out to: First Iowa Division. May 26/27, 2023 - RED RIVER VALLEY & WESTERN RAILROAD - LAMOURE, ND

First Iowa Division will host a 1.5 Day Excursionat Lamoure, ND. Early arrivals can participate on a Friday evening excursion to Edgeley ND and back (6:30 pm Departure). Saturday’s excursion will travel to Ransom Junction (between Buttzville and Sheldon) and back with a stop both ways at Lisbon.Approximate round trip mileage for this excursion is 130 miles.

Additional information: The only motel in Lamoure is the Travel Inn Lodge 701-883-5373.Be sure to specify you are booking a room in Lamoure and get the name of the clerk making the reservation. There have been issues with reservation in the past. Strongly suggest verifying your reservation the week of the excursion.

First Iowa Division will host a 2 day excursion at Britton, SD. Sunday’s excursion will travel to Aberdeen Junction and back in the morning/afternoon. There is also an evening meal excursion to Amherst and a post meal excursion to Rutland, ND and back. Monday’s excursion will travel to Geneseo Jct and back. Approximate round trip mileage for this excursion is 227 miles. An excursion packet will be emailed out to those who preregister. Saturday will see a morning trip from Luverne to Agate Junction, an afternoon trip west to Manly, MN and back, and an evening trip to Agate Junction and back. First Iowa Division will host a 2 Day Excursion at Oacoma, SD. We hope to get permission to set on Friday evening. Check with the EC that day to confirm. Saturday’s excursion will travel to 1 mile west of Mitchell and back with stops both ways at White Lake and Mt. Vernon. Lunch can be purchased at Mt Vernon during our noon break at the trackside convenience store. Sunday we will travel to Presho (and possibly further west toward Vivian) and back with stops both ways at Kennebec. Bring your own food and beverages as there are no nearby establishments. The First Iowa Division will host a 1-1/2 day ride on the MPLI Railroad at North Redwood, MN. We hope to be able to set on Friday afternoon with an evening excursion from North Redwood west to Delhi and back (Pending Railroad Approval with details to be worked out). Saturday set on begins at 6:30am. Safety meeting starts at 8:00 am with a scheduled departure at 8:30 am. We will ride from North Redwood to Norwood and back with stops at Fairfax to visit the restored depot and a pay your own lunch at Green Isle. Approximate round trip mileage for this excursion is 132 miles. An excursion Packet will be emailed out to those who preregister. AUG 5/6, 2023 – IOWA SOUTHERN RAILWAY, CENTERVILLE, IA

First Iowa Division will host a 2-day excursion at Centerville, IA.

On Saturday, August 5, we will provide rides for the public in conjunction with Centerville’s Trains, Planes and Automobiles celebration. We will travel a total of 18 miles for each ride. A 10 car limit will be in effect for this day’s activities. Set-on will be on E. O’Neal St. near the elevator (south end of town and east of Highway 5) and will begin at 7:00 AM and must be completed by 8:15 AM. Cars will be backed into town to the CB&Q depot located on Highway 5. Rides will depart from the depot and will commence at 9:00 AM and will continue to approximately 5:00 PM. There will be no cost for operator’s participation. Breakfast and lunch will be provided on Saturday. Vehicles and trailers can be parked at the set-on site. Motor cars will be parked overnight at the railroad’s engine house and will be moved to the set-on site on Sunday.

On Sunday, August 6, we will travel from Centerville to Albia and back. We will travel 60 miles for this day’s ride. There be NO LIMIT to the number of cars participating on this ride. Set-on will be on E. O’Neal St. near the elevator (sound end of town and east of Highway 5) and will begin at 8:00 AM and must be completed by 9:00 AM. Departure will be at 9:30 AM. Cost for the ride is $45.Hi Rail trucks will not be permitted. Mentoring will not be allowed. Vehicles and trailers can be parked at the set-on site.

SEPT. 15 & 16 - BLACK HILLS CENTRAL RAILROAD - HILL CITY, SD

Friday: Set on begins at 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Safety Meeting starts at 1:30 pm with a 2 pm departure. Round trip from Hill City to Keystone. We depart in front of the train and will hold for the eastbound train at Keystone Junction. Return to Hill City after train passes. We will have a second round trip after the passenger train returns. Tie up for the evening

Saturday: Set on for late arrivals from 6:00 to 6:30 am. Safety meeting at 6:45 am with a 7:00 am departure to Keystone and back. We will have four round trips and will be following the steam train during the third and fourth trips so we will have a tight schedule. We will have a 'bring your own lunch' Saturday afternoon at 2 pm at the Oblivion siding.Hope to have extended time at Keystone on our third trip of the day. Set off will be around 5 pm.

Approximate round trip mileage for this excursion is 108 miles. This ride is limited to 25 cars.

SEPT. 23 & 24 - KANSAS & OKLAHOMA RAILROAD - KANSAS

First Iowa Division will host a 2-day excursion on the Kansas and Oklahoma Railroad between McCracken, KS and Geneseo, KS. Saturday’s excursion will travel to Geneseo and back with a second ride to Claflin where there will be an on your own meal before returning in the late evening. Sunday’s excursion will travel to McCracken, KS and return with a return stop in LaCrosse, KS. There are no restaurants available but arrangements are being made for pizza to be delivered to our motorcars. This will be an additional fee for those interested. Total miles for the weekend are 180.

Use only the east crossing for setting and setting off! We'll make two runs in the morning working with the lunch train schedule. Short restroom breaks will be in between runs while turning the cars. We also plan on two runs in the afternoon before the dinner train pulls into the station to board passengers at 5pm. A night run will follow the return of the dinner train.
