April 30, 2022 - BOONE & SCENIC VALLEY RAILROAD - BOONE, IOWA

We are starting the 2022 ride season on the B&SVRR. Early set on Friday evening will be between 5 and 7pm with a possible night run about 7pm for those interested. We hope to have four trips during the day on Saturday and a night run following the return of the dinner train. Enjoy the 156' high bridge and the Des Moines River bridge by the Y-Camp. Round trip mileage is about 20 miles for each run. Saturday set on at the depot will start at 6:30am with an 8:30am departure following a safety meeting at 8:15am for the first run. We'll make two runs in the morning with restroom breaks in between and two runs in the afternoon before the dinner train pulls into the station to board passengers at 5pm. A night run will follow the return of the dinner train. There won't be time for a lunch break in order to get all of our miles in so bring along any food you might wish to eat during the day.

Preregistration cost of this excursion is $30 ( $35 day of ride or after April 16 ). Please make checks out to: First Iowa Division. May 14, 2022 - MIDWEST ELECTRIC RAILROAD - MT. PLEASANT, IOWA

First Iowa Division is hosting a 1-day excursion on the Midwest Electric Railroad in Mt. Pleasant, Ia. on the trolley line at the Midwest Thresher's Grounds. Set on is on the south end of the ground near the depot. The trolley line is a little over one mile in length and we will make several round trips during the day. This is a perfect test track for working on your motorcar if needed as there is a set off where you can perform repairs and then take it out again for more testing. Set on is 7:30am but it will be possible to set on anytime during the day as the loop is only one mile long. There may also be a chance to ride the electric trolley after the motorcar trips. Cost of the excursion is $30 per car.

May 27 & 28, 2022 - RED RIVER & WESTERN RAILROAD - LAMOURE, NORTH DAKOTA

First Iowa Division will host an excursion from LaMoure, ND to Edgeley ND and back on Friday evening (6:30 pm Departure) for early arrivals, and Saturday from LaMoure to Milnor, ND and back. Set on is scheduled to start at 4 pm Friday and at 6:30am on Saturday. We will depart LaMoure at 8:15 am with a morning break at Oakes, ND and a possible TBD noon pay for your own lunch at Milnor, ND.We will then turn our cars and return to LaMoure with an afternoon break at Oakes on the way back.

Approximate round trip mileage for this excursion is 146 miles.

Hyrails permitted with the following restrictions: Set on at the front immediately behind the RR escort.

May 29 & 30, 2022 - DMV&W RAILROAD - BRITTON, SOUTH DAKOTA

The First Iowa Division will host a 2-day ride on the DMV&W Railroad at Britton, SD. We hope to be able to set on Saturday evening from 7 pm to dark. Check trackside or call Excursion Coordinator Dave Voeltz at 605-280-5551 for details. Sunday, we will do the usual Britton to Aberdeen Jct and back in the morning and Britton to Geneseo and back in the evening.On Monday, we will repeat the Britton to Geneseo segment and back with a coffee break at Rutland before setting off. First Iowa Division is hosting a 2-day motor car excursion over the Ellis & Eastern Railroad (ex C&NW) at Luverne, MN on June 18 , 2022. Set on begins Friday evening, June 17 on Freeman Ave near the depot at 5:30 pm until 8:30 pm and continues at 6:30 am on Saturday, June 18, 2022. We will depart at the conclusion of the safety meeting that starts at 8:30 am. We will travel from Luverne to Agate Jct and back in the morning with a break at Adrian. After a lunch break at Luverne, we will travel to Manly MN and back in the afternoon and also have an evening run. There will also be a morning round trip from Luverne to Agate Jct. on Sunday, June 19. All insured NARCOA members are welcome to participate. Total mileage is 196 miles.

Hirails are NOT permitted.

July 9 & 10, 2022 - RINGNECK & WESTERN RAILROAD ( FORMERLY DAKOTA SOUTHERN) CHAMBERLAIN (OACOMA), SOUTH DAKOTA

First Iowa Division will host an excursion from Oacoma, SD to Mitchell, SD and back Saturday (6:30 am Seton/8:15am Departure), and Sunday from Oacoma, SD to Presho/Vivian SD and back (8:15 am Departure). On Saturday we will stop for a break at White Lake and Mt Vernon both outbound and inbound with an on your own lunch at a trackside convenience store outbound at Mt. Vernon. Sunday we will stop for a break at Kennebec inbound and outbound. Bring your own lunch as no facilities available. Approximate round trip mileage for this excursion is 200/220 miles (130 miles Saturday/70/90 miles Sunday) depending if the track it clear from Presho to Vivian.

July 30, 2022 - MINNESOTA PRAIRIE LINE RAILROAD –NORTH REDWOOD, MN

The First Iowa Division will host a 1-day ride on the MPLI Railroad at North Redwood, MN. We hope to be able to set on Friday evening from 4 pm to dark. Check trackside or call Excursion Coordinator Dave Voeltz at 605-280-5551 for details. Saturday set on begins at 6:30am. Safety meeting starts at 8:00 am with a scheduled departure at 8:15am. We will either: 1) Ride from North Redwood to Norwood and back with stops at Fairfax to visit the restored depot and lunch at Green Isle or 2) Ride to Fairfax and back in the morning, stop for lunch at set on, then ride to Wood Lake and back with a stop at the restored depot in Belview. The railroad is relaying rail east of Fairfax and it is unknown on the track availability until the week of the excursion.Approximate round trip mileage for this excursion is 80 to 120 miles. The First Iowa Division will host a 1-day ride over the Twin Cities & Western’s Line in central Minnesota. Sunday set on begins at 6:30am. Safety meeting starts at 8:30 with a scheduled departure at 8:45am. We will set on at Sacred Heart, MN and travel to Appleton and back with a break coming and going at Montevideo with a visit at the Milwaukee Road Heritage Center.Approximate round trip mileage for this excursion is 94 miles.

Aug. 27, 2022 - Oelwein, IA.

The First Iowa Division will host a 1-day ride from Oelwein, Iowa. to near Dewar which is near Waterloo. We will run the line twice during the day. Set on location has yet to be determined and will be posted as soon as available. Lunch details will also be listed once they're planned. Total mileage will be approximately 90 miles. Saturday morning set on will begin at 6:30am with a safety meeting at 8:00am and a departure of 8:15am.

Motels in Oelwein: Super 8 ( 319-283-8888 ) and Cobblestone Inn ( 319-283-8194 ).

Preregistration is Required.

The excursion fee is $65 ( $75 day of ride or after Aug. 13 ) and includes all railroad fees but does not include meals and motels. Complete details will be sent upon receipt of the excursion fee. This is a NARCOA-insured excursion and all NARCOA rules will apply.

Sept. 16-17, 2022 - BLACK HILLS CENTRAL RAILROAD - HILL CITY, SOUTH DAKOTA

Friday: Set on begins immediately after departure of the afternoon train. We will depart immediately after the return of the train around 3:30 for a round trip to Keystone. We will have a second set on and round trip that evening.

Saturday: We will have four round trips and will be following the steam train during the third and fourth trips so we will have a tight schedule. We will have a 'bring your own lunch' Saturday noon at the Oblivion siding. Also hoping to have extended time at Keystone on our third trip of the day on Saturday. Some have expressed an interest in riding a couple times and then sitting out the rest of the day. The railroad said they'll have a track you can store your car out of the way while you're gone so we should be able to accommodate those requests. This ride is limited to 25 cars. No Hirails..

October 8, 2022 - Fort Leonard Wood Railroad - St. Robert, Missouri

First Iowa Division will host a ride in St. Robert, Missouri on the Fort Leonard Wood Railroad. We will make two round trips on the railroad between the base and the end of the railroad at Bundy Junction. Total mileage for the day is 80 miles.

PREREGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. To Register: Print out the registration form found at the top of this page, complete it, and mail it and payment to excursion coordinator Stuart Remmers. The cost for the excursion is $50. Price includes ride fees, and does not include meals and motels.

A packet with all the additional paperwork and ride details will be emailed (mailed upon request) to you once I have your preregistration and payment. There is a form that you and all passengers must complete and return to me. You will be required to arrive Friday evening no later than 8PM to check in. This is a requirement for all participants with no exceptions. Registration for this ride will close on Friday, September 2nd at midnight. I must have your preregistration and payment in hand by then or you will not be allowed to ride. Cancellations will be handled on a case to case basis. This excursion will have a 25 car limit.

October 9, 2022 – Columbia Terminal Railroad - Columbia, Missouri

First Iowa Division will host a ride in Columbia, Missouri on the Columbia Terminal Railroad. We will make 3 round trips during the day between the seton and the end of the railroad at Centralia. Seton begins at 7AM Saturday morning with a 9AM safety meeting. Total mileage for the day is 108 miles if participant rides 3 trips. Those wishing to leave early will be allowed to do so after each round trip. There is two restaurants within walking distance of the turn spot. Participants are also welcome to bring their own lunch if they would like to.

October. 29, 2022 – KANSAS & OKLAHOMA RAILROAD – MOUNDRIDGE, KANSAS

First Iowa Division will host a ride in Moundridge, Kansas on the Kansas and Oklahoma Railroad between McPherson, Kansas and Newton, Kansas. We will make one full trip starting with going south to the edge of Newton, Kansas. Once we have turned our cars we will then head north with a stop in Hesston. We will then continue north to Kansas Highway 61 south of McPherson, Kansas where we will turn and return to Moundridge. Those wishing to set off are welcome to, and those wishing to gain some extra miles are allowed to ride on a second trip down to Newton with a lunch Break in Hesston on the south bound trip.

Set on is on the W. Hirschler Street crossing beginning at 7AM Saturday morning with a 9AM safety meeting. Total mileage for the day is 84 mile if riding the entire day.

October 30, 2022 – ABILENE & SMOKY VALLEY RAILROAD – ABILENE, KANSAS

First Iowa Division will host a ride in Abilene, Kansas on the Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad. We will ride the line three times between Abilene and Enterprise Sunday morning with a lunch break after. Following the lunch break we will ride the line two more times in the afternoon. We will return to the set on after each round trip, so anyone wishing to sit out or leave early is welcome to do so there. This would be good railroad to test or work on cars because of the opportunity to take a break during the day.

Set on is on the S Cedar Street crossing beginning at 7:00AM with a safety meeting at 9:00AM. Total miles round trip is 12 miles for a total of 60 miles.
