APRIL 27, 2019 - BOONE & SCENIC VALLEY RAILROAD - BOONE, IOWA

We are starting out the 2019 ride season on the B&SVRR. We hope to have three trips during the day and possibly a night run. Enjoy the 156' high bridge and the Des Moines River bridge by the Y-Camp. Round trip mileage is about 20 miles round trip for each run. Set on at the depot will start at 7:00am with a 9:15am departure following a safety meeting in the depot at 9:00am for the first run. Cost of the ride is $30. Current membership in the Iowa Railroad Historical Society ( $25) is a railroad requirement. Please make out checks for the ride payable to FID and membership checks to Iowa Railroad Historical Society. Carl Schneider is the EC for this excursion. May 25, 2019 - RED RIVER VALLEY & WESTERN RAILROAD - LAMOURE, NORTH DAKOTA

First Iowa Division will host an excursion from LaMoure, ND to Edgeley ND and back on Friday evening (6:30 Departure) for early arrivals, and Saturday from LaMoure to Leonard, ND and back with a possible late afternoon trip to Edgeley and back depending on time constraints. Set on is scheduled to start at 4 pm Friday and at 6:30am on Saturday. We will depart LaMoure at 8:30 am with a morning break at Lisbon, ND and a noon pay for your own lunch at Leonard, ND. We will then turn our cars and return to LaMoure with an afternoon break at Lisbon on the way back. Approximate round trip mileage for this excursion is 160 - 200 miles. Contact event coordinator Dave Voeltz to register since a head count is needed for those participating in the lunch at Leonard.

Hyrails permitted with the following restrictions: Set on at the front immediately behind the RR escort.

May 26-27, 2019 - DMV&W RAILROAD - BRITTON, SOUTH DAKOTA

The First Iowa Division will host a 2-day ride on the DMV&W Railroad at Britton, SD. We hope to be able to set on Saturday evening from 7 pm to dark. Check trackside or call Excursion Coordinator Dave Voeltz at 605-280-5551 for details. Sunday, we will do the usual Britton to Aberdeen Jct and back in the morning and Britton to Geneseo and back in the evening with a dinner break at the Geneseo bar like last year. Then on Monday, we will repeat the Britton to Geneseo segment and back with a coffee break at Rutland before setting off. Approximate round trip mileage for this excursion is 210 miles. We will travel the trolley loop on the Midwest Old Thresher's grounds several times throughout the day. This ride consists of a mile plus loop under the wire that should prove a nice location to test & tune up your cars. There are sidings if you wish to make a few laps then stop for tuning or refreshments then run again. Set on at 8:00 with a safety meeting at 8:45 and a 9:00 departure for the first run. No hirails allowed & A cars are discouraged. Persons arriving after the first run will still be allowed to set on when the group comes around the loop. A safety briefing will be held for those persons before the next run. Directions are take Business Hwy 34 to S. Grand Ave, go south to Bell Dr and turn west to Threshers grounds. Go left (south) of the carousel to the tracks. Cost of the ride $20 per car. .Please make out checks payable to FID. Motels in Mt. This is a one day excursion over the Minnesota Prairie Line in central Minnesota. Saturday set on begins at 6:30am. Safety meeting starts at 8:30 am with a scheduled departure at 8:45am for Norwood Young America and back with a break at Fairfax and lunch at Green Isle. Approximate round trip mileage for this excursion is 100 miles. This ride is limited to 40 cars. Hyrails permitted at the front behind the escort. The event is sponsored by First Iowa Division. June 23, 2019 - TWIN CITIES & WESTERN RAILROAD - SACRED HEART, MINNESOTA

This is a one day excursion over the Twin Cities & Western’s Line in central Minnesota. Sunday set on begins at 6:30am. Safety meeting starts at 8:30 with a scheduled departure at 8:45am. We will set on at Sacred Heart, MN and travel to Appleton and back with a break coming and going at Montevideo. There is a Subway near the tracks at our turnaround in Appleton to grab lunch, you can purchase something at Caseys during our stops at Montevideo, or bring your own. This is a two day excursion on the rebuilt Dakota Southern Line in central South Dakota. We will cross the mile long Missouri River Bridge at least twice on the excursion. We will set on at the City Shop located on Seaman Ave in Oacoma. Turn off I-90 (Exit 260), drive south one block and turn left on 3rd St, then turn right on Seaman Ave. Saturday set on begins at 6:30am. Safety meeting starts at 8:15 with a scheduled departure at 8:30am for west Mitchell city limits with stops along the way at White Lake for break and Mt Vernon for lunch on your own. We should return to Oacoma late afternoon and will likely need to remove the cars from the track overnight or optionally park them in the yard in Chamberlain (bonus trip over the bridge). Sunday safety meeting begins at 8:30 with an 8:45 departure for Presho with a break at Kennebec both ways. We may continue westerly to Vivian depending upon car storage and track condition. We should return to Oacoma midafternoon. Approximate round trip mileage for this excursion is 210 miles.

AUG. 3, 2019 - VFW RIDE IOWA SOUTHERN RAILROAD - CENTERVILLE, IOWA

The First Iowa Division has again been asked to provided rides to the public for a fund raiser that the VFW hosts for various projects. Set on will begin at 6:30am Saturday morning just south of the water tower in the southeast part of town. Safety meeting will be at 8:30am.

I would like to thank everyone who came out and volunteered their cars and time last year and I hope you can attend this year as we had many riders.

Please note that the VFW Aug.3rd ride is not a NARCOA ride nor is it sanctioned by the First Iowa Division.

OCT. 4-5, 2019 - BLACK HILLS CENTRAL RAILROAD - HILL CITY, SOUTH DAKOTA

Friday: Set on begins immediately after departure of the afternoon train. We will depart immediately after the return of the train around 3:30 for a round trip to Keystone. We will have a second set on and round trip that evening.

Saturday: We will have four round trips and will be following the steam train during the third and fourth trips so we will have a tight schedule. We will have a 'bring your own lunch' Saturday noon at the Oblivion siding. Also hoping to have extended time at Keystone on our last trip of the day on Saturday. Some have expressed an interest in riding a couple times and then sitting out the rest of the day. The railroad said they'll have a track you can store your car out of the way while you're gone so we should be able to accommodate those requests. This ride is limited to 25 cars.

The price of the trip is $80. Price includes Ride fees only. Payment does not include Meals and motels.
